Bean and Bud Coffee Shop Harrogate

Weak at the knees you can trudge no further, a heavy afternoon’s shopping through the nylon aisles of Primark has taken its toll. Without a second thought you crawl to the nearest Starbucks. People are screaming as you clamber breathlessly up at the counter , ‘I…need..a mocha..choca…machiato…venti-grande…skinny……latte with cream.’ before collapsing in a heap. Moments later you’re awakened by a green apron wearing angel, cusping smelling salts in the form of a cappuccino to your shnoz. Welcome to Harrogate’s finest Coffee Shop ( or Emergency room)- Bean and Bud.

Being so prevalent you’d think our everyday function depends on the magical coffee bean. Like zombies we all stagger into a logo clad chain, with no preference of taste, just a lust for our ‘fix’. We’re all guilty of it, when you can’t be bothered to search for anywhere decent you just dart in somewhere that’s recognisable and safe, where you know what you’re going to get. Truth be told though, it’s bloody average.

I can’t claim to be an expert of columbian coffee beans or keemun gong fu tea. But I do know service, atmosphere and quality. Bean & Bud is a prime place for this treatment, its friendly baristas (proper baristas to add) knowledge and enthusiasm ooze like espressos fountaining into a shot glass, and this makes me go back every time I’m in Harrogate. This tucked away coffee shop is Harrogate’s ark of the covenant and when it comes to specialty coffee drinking and shopping it’s the perfect off piste haven. It won’t be beaten in the local vicinity (and that includes Betty’s tea rooms). So seek this place next time you’re in town.

My recommendation is the Dark Chocolate Mocha, or heading into the summer try the Affogato, which is two scoops of vanilla ice cream drowned in a double espresso!

Nice. Great to encourage the independent Coffee Houses.

Absolutely! It’s such a great little place. On one hand you want it to thrive and expand, the other you want it to be your own secret coffee garden!

We can vouch for the service, the friendliness from Ruth & Hayden and for the magnificent coffee, tea and cakes. Our favourite place in Harrogate.

This sounds really good but am I missing something….. is the address a secret? Reading the review, I want to go there!!! Very much agree that the small independents need our custom.
