Teaming up with Greenpeace, legendary pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi has created an exclusive piece entitled Elegy for the Arctic, which he performed whilst floating around the Nordenskiöld glacier in Svalbard, Norway.
This is all part of a larger campaign, whose aim is to collect voices from around the globe demanding the preservation of this region, which as we know affects each of our futures. So listen to the below and then visit www.voicesforthearctic.org and add your name to the list of those with a vested interest in a habitable world.
I was lucky enough to see Ludovico Einaudi perform earlier this year, and to watch the maestro at work is to be placed in a strange, almost meditative state which forces you to ponder on all that is important in life. I imagine that’s one of the reasons Greenpeace got him on board. So listen closely, carefully and thoughtfully. Think about the things that matter most to you in this world and then imagine a future where many of those things will become threatened.
I’ve always said that music has the power to change the word. Maybe Ludovico can help change the future for the better. I certainly hope so.
