Monsters: Dark Continent Trailer 2

The latest trailer for Monsters: Dark Continent (the follow up to Gareth Edwards’ incredible debut movie) has been unleashed, and features at least 3000% more monster footage than the first film ever did – which could be a bad thing.

I have to say I like the look and feel of this as a sequel. It has a similar epic scale, military contrast as did James Cameron’s Aliens to Ridley Scott’s more intimate first Alien film.

I’m also a fan of the very Cthulhu-esque designs of the titular beasts. They have a sense of weight in their lumbering movements, and the shots of them squirming in a distant fog evoke the great moments from Frank Darabont’s The Mist.

Monsters: Dark Continent hits UK shores on 28th November; the perfect antithesis to the saccharine sweetness of the start of advent.

James is a movie obsessive with a particular love for scores and screenplays. He has written for numerous blogs, sites and cinemas and has been involved in several screenwriting projects. He can usually be found in front of a large plasma screen devouring Westerns, 80s pulp, Jimmy Stewart movies or anything by the Coens.
