I’m sure that you had the same experience as me. At first it’s all about the fun, enjoying the fact that some talented bugger(s) managed to pretty accurately retell some of cinema’s most iconic moments just by splicing together some stock footage reels. But then it hits you at the end; this is actually one of the best marketing tricks I’ve ever seen!
Not only has the video been created by a stock footage distribution company (Dissolve), but by going to the site you can actually buy all the footage used in the clip. It works on so many levels: It entertains, it informs, it excites and it will most definitely lead to sales without actually feeling like you are being sold to at any point.
So kudos to Dissolve, and thumbs up for Scenes You’ve Seen; a great fun clip that is sure to generate a lot of cash whilst also appeasing fan-boys – even George Lucas can only manage one of those things these days!
